I am not sure if the comment about the church not seeing people saved in the past year(s) was hypothetical, but I do know the comment is not exactly accurate. While I admit we have not done enough as a church to spread the Gospel, I do know of at least one soul saved in the past year. I believe the difference is that we do not celebrate souls saved like we once did and we absolutely should. That may be a reason why it seems we as a church are not seeing souls saved. We do not share often enough in fellowship what God has done in our own lives or what we have seen God do in other’s lives.

You are correct Carol. The comments made in this sermon were not specific to Willow. There were two different references that I noticed. The first reference was about the church at large or the universal church, the quote went as follows: –We have the latest technology but we cannot point to very many changed lives! This quote was from an author/pastor but was not in direct reference to our local body. The second instance was an actual local church (though not ours) the quote was as follows: “Our church has a budget of 5 million, but we haven’t had anyone saved in years.” We (Willow) currently have a budget of less than 500 thousand. Lastly, you make a great point for the need of celebration. We have a few opportunities coming in the next month if you are looking for ways to celebrate. This coming Sunday, Oct 26th we are having several people being baptized and on Nov. 16th we are going to have an entire evening dedicated to people sharing how the gospel brought them from death to life. I hope this helps clarify the context of his comments.
